Work smart, not hard, they say. Making the most of the time we have each day (1440 minutes) is a goal for all of us. Whether it’s getting up at sunrise, meditating before eating chia seeds and organic yoghurt for breakfast, or simply making sure that you do the washing up before you go to bed, getting organised and being productive is different, but aspired to, for everyone.
If you start going down the productivity rabbit hole, looking for ways to improve your daily accomplishments, you’ll find an inordinate number of blogs, podcasts and YouTube videos explaining how best to do it.
One thing they pretty much all agree on is that the foundations of a productive day are based on a decent routine. Ensuring that you do the same tasks at the same time, or in the same order, means they’re likely to become habitual and you’ll do them instinctively , rather than actively dreading them!
How do we structure our days?
It’s not easy, changing things up when you’ve got used to doing things a certain way. We sat down with some of the team to understand how (and if!) routines played a part in their life. We asked them 3 simple questions:
What do you find the biggest challenge in your daily routine? (e.g. getting out of bed in the dark, making a packed lunch, doing exercise when working from home)
Are you trying to improve your daily routine at all? If so how?
Any New Year’s resolutions?
Hopefully some of their answers will resonate with you and maybe inspire you to get organised in your own way.

What do you find the biggest challenge in your daily routine?
All forms of habit keeping are alien to me. I cannot maintain a habit to save my life… so I’ve stopped stressing about it and just got on with the daily flow.
Are you trying to improve your daily routine at all? If so, how?
For about a month now, I’ve been doing 30-mins of exercise daily. I suppose that’s a bit of a routine that has just crept up on me.
Any New Year resolutions?
I ditched resolutions a long time ago. Now I just set a motto for each new year. 2023’s motto is: “Releasing my grasp on everything!”

What do you find the biggest challenge in your daily routine?
Keeping on top of ‘chores’ around the house! I struggle to finish one thing before moving on to the next e.g. After breakfast I don’t always wash up breakfast stuff/put away cereal/wipe down the sides. By the evening I still feel like I’m chasing my tail from the morning!
Are you trying to improve your daily routine at all? If so, how?
I’m trying to mix up my usual routine and change my earlyish morning dog walk to late morning, that way I can get a good few hours of work in before I then get to clear my head on a long walk. I’m still testing it to see if it helps my productivity but I like the idea of almost splitting my day into two with a significant break in the middle for walk/lunch.
Any New Year’s resolutions?
I’ve not set a resolution but I have set a word of the year – ‘fun’. I think as adults we can almost forget to properly enjoy life, we need to sometimes push ourselves to ensure we aren’t just ‘living’ and instead are having fun. My idea of ‘fun’ varies so much so it could be anything from crying with laughter with my best friend over a glass of wine, going on an adventure in my camper van or watching some stand-up on the TV!

What do you find the biggest challenge in your daily routine?
Prioritising. Since lockdowns and hybrid working there’s lots of opportunity to get more done at home, but there’s almost too much choice. Between working, childcare, maintaining the house and making time for my own stuff, it’s difficult to know where to start.
Are you trying to improve your daily routine at all? If so, how?
Yes, I’m trying to put a routine in place! Since having a child, our world has been shaken up a bit and everything has changed – so we’re trying to adapt to a completely new set of responsibilities and time management. Routine has become incredibly important, and I’m trying to make sure we both have an hour or so a day for ‘us’ where we can do what we want (e.g. go for a run)
Any New Year’s resolutions?
Keep things simple. Work on adding something into the routine (like breakfast at the same time) and then build on it, rather than trying to do everything at once.
Habits and routines are key to a successful life. The more you can do automatically, and without thinking, the more time you have to dedicate to your own pursuits, whether it’s personal development or more leisure time.
Doing things automatically ensures tasks are less mentally taxing, and more efficient. We’d love to help get you some time back, so why not try the Bundant band for 6 months and see what a difference it makes as part of your productivity journey in 2023.
